Can't say I understand poetry very well, but I can definitely appreciate the beauty of the flow of the words, and your poetry is very nice. :3 I liked the Valentine's Day one especially.

Hehe, thanks! Honestly I don't know how good I am at "understanding" poetry either. I think interpretation is personal, unlike fiction there isn't "the point." Meaning is an emotional experience for both writer and reader separately of one another.

I just fell into writing poetry though, hated it up until 8th grade when Invictus (still my favorite poem btw) changed my mind. However I only started writing it in college on a whim. I had planned on having my major emphasis in Fiction but couldn't get into the classes, yet poetry which was new and random for me, those portfolios were apparently more than passable. I even got into a 10 person honors seminar class too. Poetry discussions were fun, so I just ended up kind of sticking with poetry and not trying to change my fiction for the program. I find the UCD fiction program way to existential, that's fine in poetry but not my cup o' tea in story writing.

Anyhow glad you liked some of it, I think xkcd comics inspired the Vday poem, they have a lot of fun/cynical/math related Vday comics. It's a fun concept though, math and love are similar only in that they are equations, in function they are almost polar opposites - which I think makes it so fn to loop 'em together.

I kind of blinked in surprise when I saw this in my messages. I like... never have messages this long on DA, so it was kind of confusing for a moment, until I saw it was you. XD
Anyway, that's an interesting way to look at it. I guess I get more meaning from the flow of the words, rather than their actual interpretations. Always been somewhat fond of poetry; just never super into it.
That's great though how you ended up falling into it. XD Sounds like it was fate.

Here's attempting to surprise you take 2! ^_~

It's nice to fall into things, especially poetry, and Ancient Greek, and ultimate frisbee...ok I never actually managed to fall into that one yet, but one day, one day!
